![]() ![]() I aimed not so much for a literal translation, but localization, clear and easily understood text, and the inclusion of any missing elements left out from the US version due to Nintendo’s censorship policy from back in the day. ![]() In the end, here are the fruits of my labor. The resources they provided pointed me in the right direction to complete this. I want to make it clear that, despite not enjoying their version, I would not have been able to do this without Chrono Compendium’s retranslation forerunners like ZeaLitY and KWhazit. I acquired all the necessary tools to begin doing my re-retranslation. Therefore, instead of complaining, I decided to take action. I soon discovered I was not the only one who felt this way. No, discredit to them, but I felt much of the text was incoherent and/or awkward. When I discovered that KWhazit, ZeaLitY, and company had finished a new English retranslation, I immediately applied it to the game and started playing. Late in January of 2008, I had a desire to play Chrono Trigger again after having not played for at least 7 years. Normally, I’d be wondering the same thing. ![]() So, you’re probably wondering why a great game that already had a decent translation and a recently released retranslation from fans would need another fan translation. If you would like to know a little more about me and the development process, you can visit my blog. What Lies Beyond? (12000 B.C.Both files contain patches for a headered and a nonheadered version of Chrono Trigger.“ Lucca: I'm not the slightest bit worried about you, Kid! I know that, no matter what happens, '"he"' will always be there looking out for you! Or perhaps he has already found you and is there by your side as you read this? If so, hello, Janus! Please take good care of my '"little sister"' for me!” ↑ GamePro: Interview with Chrono Cross Developers.“ Vera: From what I've heard, this mysterious figure who could allegedly slip in and out of the shadows was the subject of many whispers throughout the manor, long after this incident had come to pass.” Kid's quiet about her past too, but it's like I know her entire life story compared to how little I know about Magil.” At times, it seems as though I'm hanging around someone from another world - traveling with this pack is definitely an interesting experience. I've never even seen what he really looks like. “ Serge: The top half of his face is covered with a mask at all times. In the English version of this easter egg, Gil is referred to as "Magil". Gil appears in Chrono Cross only in an easter egg designating the events of Radical Dreamers as having taken place in an alternate dimension. As it stands, Magus is only mentioned in a letter to Kid from Lucca, in which she assures Kid not to worry as "Janus" is probably watching over her. Missing Piece includes a number of discarded character designs for Guile, including one which is more-or-less analogous to Magus' appearance in Chrono Trigger (cloak, pointed ears, etc.), as well as one in which he appears as a teenage boy. His character, renamed Guile (Alf in the Japanese version), was thus altered to remove his Magus identity and was left in with no back-story, existing merely as a competent magician seeking enigma in the islands of El Nido. However, as development of the game progressed, designers decided it would be too difficult to integrate his complex story into the plot. Magus as Gil was also slated to appear in Chrono Cross. He has the ability to slip in and out of the shadows of the night at will. He is depicted as masked and mysterious, though gentle and cultured. Magus appears in Radical Dreamers as Gil, a shadowy and handsome member of the Radical Dreamers thieving group. The word "Magus" is the singular form of the word "magi", a Latin word serving as the root of the English equivalents "mage," "magic," and "magician." Magus' Japanese name Maō translates roughly to "demon king" and is more clearly identified as a title rather than a name. He is an optional character but is nonetheless an iconic cast member of Chrono Trigger, largely due to his major role as an enemy in the game. He fights using a scythe, as well as a combination of all magic types. Vindictive and vengeful against Lavos, and eternally concerned over the fate of his sister Schala, he is portrayed as brooding, potent, and gloomy. After an encounter with Lavos as a boy, he was sent through a time gate to the Middle Ages. Magus was originally Janus (Jyaki in the Japanese version), the young prince of Zeal in 12000 B.C.
